dotSource and Intershop Launch First Packaged Software for Selling on Facebook

E-commerce software experts Intershop and social commerce agency dotSource have unveiled an upgraded version of their SCOOBOX® social commerce module.

SCOOBOX (Social Commerce Out Of the Box) is a standard solution that enhances the user-friendliness of e-commerce systems and enables interaction with and between customers in the online store and in social networks, such as Facebook. It can be seamlessly integrated into Enfinity Suite e-commerce systems. In the latest survey of e-commerce systems by the respected industry analysts at Forrester, this joint offering was rated extremely positively.

SCOOBOX®1.0 allowed e-tailers to integrate a range of useful social commerce functions, such as creation of customer profiles and interaction between customers in internal forums. With SCOOBOX® 2.0, it is now possible to actively build an online community and extend it beyond the store.

The focus here is on connecting with social networks Facebook and Twitter.

SCOOBOX® 2.0 enables full integration of Facebook into an online store. Thanks to the single sign-on solution, users are able to access the store simply by logging on to Facebook. Alongside product recommendations, it is also possible to create wish lists in the store and add them to Facebook profiles to share with friends. And that’s not all. By integrating the store into a Facebook app, users can leverage the full range of store functionality without having to leave Facebook.

The solution also contains a Twitter feature, which enables store operators to connect their Twitter accounts with the store, manage them, and supply them with store news feeds and product feeds. SCOOBOX® 2.0 delivers practical tools for integrating a Twitter timeline to display Twitter accounts on the store website. With rating and recommendation buttons now available for all products, store visitors can also feed new content into their Twitter accounts.

Other new features of SCOOBOX® 2.0 allow store operators to create blog articles linked to a product page. Another first: users can now build and manage friendships with fellow shoppers in a way that mimics social networks.
