In order to keep up with the increasing demands in e-commerce, the Berlin-based company CLICKPOOL and the Jena-based digital agency dotSource worked on expanding the digital strategy of CLICKPOOL’s in-house brand »Dildoking«. With no more support and updates for the shop software Magento 1 by the system provider, the first step was to migrate the online shop to Magento 2 Commerce Cloud, version 2.3. In addition, dotSource carried out SEA optimisation measures in order to harness its full potential. Other digital projects, e.g. the connection of a PIM system, are already being planned.
CLICKPOOL, an operator of several online shops, entered the online business back in 2004 with its in-house brand »Dildoking« and is now one of the big players among online adult shops across Europe. CLICKPOOL originally approached dotSource with the request to implement a PIM system. However, it quickly became apparent that the previously used e-commerce software Magento 1 did not meet the requirements for the integration of a PIM system. Moreover, the software provider had already announced the discontinuation of support and security updates for the shop software. For these reasons, a comprehensive replatforming of the online shop was initially envisaged, with the goal of migrating the existing system structure to Magento 2 Commerce Cloud, version 2.3.
Creating a Future-Proof B2C Commerce Platform with an Initial MVP
To begin with, the requirements for an initial MVP (minimum viable product) were discussed together in workshops, e.g. the implementation of interfaces and adoption of templates as well as ways of dealing with challenges that had to be overcome when migrating product data. In this regard, dotSource was able to draw on more than ten years of experience as a Magento partner and overcome any difficulties thanks to quick and competent support from the system provider. With the stabilisation phase that followed, the establishment of the new B2C commerce platform was successfully completed.
»Throughout the entire project, we could always count on the dotSource team and its expertise. Together, we were able to overcome all challenges, which has also had a lasting effect on our further cooperation. That is why we are happy to put our digital projects in the hands of dotSource in the future,« Robert Schwärzle, CEO at CLICKPOOL, says.
Increasing the Conversion Rate with SEA Optimisation Measures
When analysing CLICKPOOL’s search engine marketing, dotSource identified untapped potential. The digital marketing team of dotSource looked into this and improved performance and monitoring through the use of keywords. This way, the cost revenue ratio was reduced by 20 per cent.
With the new Dildoking online shop, CLICKPOOL can now rely on a highly flexible and modern B2C commerce platform. Thanks to extremely good communication, the cooperation was very productive throughout the entire project. The next step will be to update the shop to Magento version 2.4 and to integrate the initially envisaged PIM system with the help of dotSource in order to enable efficient work with product data.
