For many users, on a smartphone is where the first point of contact occurs when it comes to finding products, suggestions and inspirations — regardless of whether the purchase ultimately takes place online or offline. This is exactly where STABILO wants to pick up customers and therefore commissioned the digital agency dotSource for the technical development as well as a redesign of an integrated content commerce system.
Jena, Germany, 28.3.2018
STABILO International GmbH is one of the leading writing instrument manufacturers in Europe with core competencies in the areas of writing, painting & drawing, and highlighting. STABILO products are available in more than 180 countries worldwide.
STABILO’s target group usually starts looking for products online, being inspired on a whim. On STABILO.com inspirations and informative brand showcases are presented for hobby artists, professional artists, office workers, educators, adults, teenagers, and children. The intertwining of content, in the form of information and entertainment, with commerce, i.e. the purchase option, increases the service for the target group and can thus strengthen customer loyalty. However, the lack of a link between the STABILO brand showcases and online shop led to a break in the user experience. In order to meet the increased expectations of customers for a seamless brand experience, STABILO International GmbH commissioned the digital agency dotSource with the technical development as well as a redesign of the newly created content commerce system.
In addition to the migration of the German online shop to the latest Shopware version (Shopware 5), dotSource implemented a transnational CMS multi-client platform based on Typo3. This enables internationally uniform content management and supports smooth workflow (from content creation to publication) across all STABILO International subsidiaries. The Shop-Connector, which was specially developed by dotSource, forms the link between the CMS controlled from Germany and the sales platforms of the individual countries. Thanks to the connector, additional sales platforms can be connected to the CMS with little effort (if required) which gives STABILO the greatest flexibility in expanding international digital distribution.
In order to visually perfect the merging of content and commerce and to make the product showcases tangible for users, dotSource implemented the STABILO brand value »colourful« in a state-of-the-art, internationally valid design.
STABILO International GmbH now has a state-of-the-art content commerce platform that offers customers a unique brand experience. The products listed in the showcase can now be bought by the user while browsing and discovering with just a few clicks, without jeopardising the purchase by media breaks. This has a positive effect on brand perception and thus also supports the future offline purchase of STABILO products.
