Secure Data Exchange Between On-Premise and Cloud
BHS Corrugated stands for complex machines that enable customers from all over the world to produce corrugated board. The company not only builds machines, but also provides maintenance services and sells spare parts. This can be done digitally via the iCorr® shop, an innovative B2B e-commerce platform.
Just like the e-commerce software, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system was developed by SAP. Unlike the e-commerce software, however, the ERP solution is not hosted in the cloud, but on-premise. Therefore, BHS Corrugated approached dotSource with the request to enable seamless data exchange between the systems. The keyword here is »cloud platform integration«.
In order to enable seamless data exchange between the solutions while building bridges across the specific firewalls, BHS Corrugated created and implemented an intelligent interface management concept together with its long-standing digitalisation partner dotSource, using SAP Cloud Platform Integration Suite as the middleware.
In addition to the creation of an integration-platform-as-a-service strategy concept, personalised and reusable REST APIs were developed for BHS Corrugated. This way, not only the on-premise ERP solution and iCorr® Maintenance Cloud, but also other SAP systems of the mechanical and plant engineering company can be connected with each other.
Success & Added Value
The fast data exchange in compliance with data protection regulations meets the highest security standards. The intelligent use of SAP CPI not only solved the problem, but also prepared the entire system architecture for the cloud migration.
- Cloud-based platform integration as a key component of a future-oriented system architecture
- Interface-based communication across SAP systems
- Bridging the gap between on-premise and cloud
