Project Overview
About Villeroy & Boch
The Villeroy & Boch Group is one of the world's leading premium brands in the »Bathroom and Wellness« and »Dining and Lifestyle« segments. Founded in 1748 and headquartered in Mettlach, Germany, the company stands for innovation, design and excellent quality.
With its strong brand portfolio and its two main brands Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard, the Group is represented by over 12,000 employees in more than 140 countries worldwide.
Initial Situation
Previously, Villeroy & Boch's e-commerce presence was based on the Storefront Reference Architecture (SFRA) of Salesforce Commerce Cloud. However, content and shop functionalities were more clearly separated, making it difficult to effectively integrate storytelling and product information into the purchasing process. Moreover, the company needed a cutting-edge CMS to manage content more efficiently and unite various product divisions under one digital roof.
Challenges
The goal was to gradually develop the existing architecture into a decoupled composable storefront during ongoing operations. This meant carefully managing the migration of individual pages while initially keeping more complex, revenue-critical sections on the established SFRA foundation. In addition, Magnolia CMS and Salesforce Commerce Cloud with Composable Storefront had to be integrated to support consistent, cross-channel delivery of both content and product data.

From Separate Systems to a Unified Platform Architecture
Implementation of Magnolia CMS
dotSource rolled out Magnolia as its CMS and created the relevant content elements for Villeroy & Boch's product divisions.
Set-up of Composable Storefront
The established SFRA foundation was gradually replaced with Salesforce Composable Storefront, resulting in a decoupled front end based on the existing e-commerce functionalities.
Design of Front-End Components
Working closely with the responsible design agency, dotSource developed easy-to-use front-end components and brought the approved design to life in the Salesforce system.
Integration of Content and Commerce
The decoupled front end is connected via interfaces so that product-related information from Salesforce Commerce Cloud and enriched content from Magnolia come together in the new storefront.
Platform Consolidation
Several of Villeroy & Boch's product divisions were brought together in a shared platform architecture, laying the groundwork for a consistent user experience across information and shopping.
Step-by-Step Migration
The transition to the new storefront followed a phased approach, with pages gradually moved over while complex, revenue-critical sections initially remained on the existing set-up.
Content and Commerce United on a Powerful DXP
By combining Magnolia CMS and Salesforce Composable Storefront, Villeroy & Boch has created an architecture that seamlessly brings together informative content and shop functionalities. This new solution improves both editorial processes and user experience, making it much easier to manage the »Bathroom and Wellness« and »Dining and Lifestyle« segments in a shared set-up.
The composable approach preserves the existing e-commerce foundation while providing the flexibility to continue evolving the digital platform.
