Project Overview
About Villeroy & Boch
The Villeroy & Boch Group is one of the world's leading premium brands in the »Bathroom and Wellness« and »Dining and Lifestyle« segments. Founded in 1748 and headquartered in Mettlach, Germany, the company stands for innovation, design and excellent quality.
With its strong brand portfolio and its two main brands Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard, the Group is represented by over 12,000 employees in more than 140 countries worldwide.
Initial Situation
For the »Dining and Lifestyle« segment, Villeroy & Boch already operated a B2C online shop based on Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Over the years, however, the set-up had grown increasingly complex, with individual features, integrations and content processes making it harder to manage.
As a result, its performance and the technical foundation no longer fully met Villeroy & Boch's requirements for modern e-commerce.
Challenges
While day-to-day operations continued, the existing shop landscape had to be technically modernised without compromising stability. Varying requirements across the country-specific shops, several connected systems and large volumes of content made the necessary adjustments challenging.
In addition, improvements to performance, checkout and content workflows had to be carefully coordinated to raise the overall user experience quality.

In-Depth Analysis and New Features for E-Commerce Success
Assessment and Definition of Goals
In collaborative workshops, Villeroy & Boch and dotSource identified opportunities to optimise performance, user experience and digital marketing for the existing B2C online shop in the »Dining and Lifestyle« segment.
Optimisation of the E-Commerce Platform
dotSource updated the Storefront Reference Architecture of the existing Salesforce Commerce Cloud and optimised the payment functionality. These measures improved shop performance while reducing maintenance effort.
User-Focused Features and Recommendations
Features such as wishlist reminders and availability notifications were expanded to improve customer communication and promote cross-selling more effectively.
Legally Compliant Consent Management
By integrating Cookiebot, an entirely GDPR- and ePrivacy-compliant consent management solution was implemented, ensuring that the online shop reliably meets all relevant data protection requirements.
CMS Selection
To support more effective content delivery, Villeroy & Boch needed a more powerful CMS. Together with dotSource, the company selected Magnolia CMS from a shortlist and implemented it. This laid the groundwork for an advanced content commerce strategy.
Optimised Internal Processes
In addition to the front-end enhancements, dotSource refined various back-end shop processes. This significantly reduced product catalogue import times and lowered the amount of manual follow-up work required.
