B2B Shop with Cut-to-Size Calculator: Three Basic Shapes, Infinitely Many Variants
Röchling Industrial’s products can be found in processed form in cars, airplanes, on playgrounds or in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. The semi-finished products are available in three shapes: sheets, blocks and rods. However, infinitely many variants are possible, which makes it difficult to sell them on digital platforms. dotSource and Salesforce convinced with a proof of concept that included an innovative cut-to-size calculator as well as a modern and user-friendly web design.
The project was launched in line with the principles of agile project management. First of all, an MVP online shop based on Salesforce B2B Commerce was developed. The clean web design of the draft as well as the innovative and highly individual cut-to-size calculator were already implemented. It was a deliberate decision not to launch this B2B shop for all Röchling Industrial customers right away, but to make it available to selected customers first. This made it possible to continuously optimise the shop based on the user feedback received. Step by step, the shop was made available to more and more customers.
Success & Added Value
The online shop is intuitive to use and has a modern design, perfectly meeting the need for individual ordering functions. It is optimised for desktop computers as well as mobile devices and all common browsers. At Röchling Industrial, no two orders are the same, which is highly unusual for traditional e-commerce – even in B2B. Nevertheless, the solution developed by dotSource and Salesforce allows Röchling Industrial to sell its products online via its B2B shop and to innovatively shape the digital future.
