Current press release
Under an enormous time crunch, the Jena-based digital agency dotSource completed a complete technology change for the online shop of Netto Markendiscount AG & Co. KG. Intershop 7 thus forms the basis for the further expansion of a modern cross-channel shopping experience.
Jena, the 23rd of August 2018
As part of the Kaiser's-Tengelmann acquisition by Edeka, Netto eStores (NeS) GmbH was created. It embodies the e-commerce division of Netto Marken-Discount AG & Co. KG. and includes the shops NettOnline24.de, Plus.de, and GartenXXL.de. Already the then Tengelmann EStores GmbH approached dotSource to migrate the multi-client platform from Intershop 6 to Intershop 7. The Oxid PHP based Netto Online-Shop was to be integrated into the existing system. For the Netto platform, this meant a complete technology change including the connection of all relevant interfaces.
The project was implemented in close cooperation between Netto eStores and dotSource. In order to be able to provide the shop on time, the team followed the principle of the MVP. Thanks to the very fit development performance of the entire team, the new Netto online shop was able to go live in just three months, stable and on schedule, thus securing customer loyalty, inventory sales, and competitiveness.
»Netto achieves several goals with migration: The new technology stack based on the Intershop 7.7 combines the previously individually running shops, the solution has a better scalability, performance, and security and it opens Netto an uncomplicated expansion of its selection of offers. In this respect, what has already been achieved is a great step forward for the company, especially in view of the time pressure involved in implementing the new platform,« says Markus Klahn, COO of Intershop Communications AG.
Together with dotSource, the migration of the remaining clients Plus.de, GartenXXL.de, and GartenXXL.at to Intershop 7 followed as well as the expansion of further functions, such as the implementation of a responsive design. The development of an individualised brand experience across all touchpoints is the next logical step for Nes GmbH. On Netto-Online.de the different services of the discounter are united. In addition to the online shop for non-food items, they offer their customers information about the current offers in its main branch via the platform. It’s all rounded off by recipes, cooking tips, and videos. The "shopping list" function helps digitally minded customers to plan their weekly shopping - in the spirit of a cross-channel shopping experience.
»The dotSource development team not only assisted us in the project as a competent implementation partner but above all as a consultant and source of inspiration. Under professional guidance, we were able to meet the challenge of technology change, as well as to optimise our internal processes and take our own digital know-how to the next level«, concludes Jens Schürks, head of development at Netto eStores GmbH.
