For almost 100 years now, the family-owned company from Baden-Württemberg has been developing and selling power tools for everyone working in forestry, gardening and landscaping. Today, the mechatronics company is the world's leading manufacturer of chainsaws. It has more than 20,000 employees and a sales network in 160 countries.

STIHL direct GmbH represents the e-commerce and omnichannel competence centre of the STIHL Group. Since spring 2020, it has operated as a 100 per cent subsidiary of the long-established company.

Agile Methods for Optimal Design

STIHL direct's goal was to improve the user experience offered by the global brand's online shop. Using agile methods, the dotSource user experience design (UXD) team developed various new features for the »Customer Account« area. In addition, page navigation and the product detail pages were revised to further enhance user experience.

STIHL: Product Discovery with FactFinder Tool

Improved Product Search in the Online Shop

An online shop offering a wide range of products needs a user-friendly search function that guides customers to their desired product. For this purpose, STIHL uses the powerful tool from FactFinder. The dotSource design experts optimised the search overlay as well as the presentation of result pages and search suggestions for a superior product discovery experience.

STIHL: Tool for Purchasing Advice

Innovative Tool for Purchasing Advice

To enable the provision of clear purchasing advice, the dotSource UXD team developed a user-friendly chain and guide bar advisor for STIHL. This feature makes it possible to easily and quickly find a guide bar that would be suitable for a particular chainsaw – another user experience optimisation for what is probably STIHL's best-known product group.
