The German fashion brand hessnatur is one of the market leaders for natural textiles. The slow fashion company was founded by Heinz and Dorothea Hess in Butzbach near Frankfurt am Main in 1976 and describes itself as Germany's most sustainable fashion brand. Besides organic baby and children's clothing, its first-class product range also includes women's and men's fashion as well as outdoor wear and home textiles.
For almost half a century, hessnatur has stood for high quality and transparency from the cultivation of raw materials to the finished product.
The company has around 340 employees and operates stores in Butzbach, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich, a mail order catalogue business as well as a successful online shop based on an e-commerce software from SAP.
Making a Big Upgrade Leap
In order to accommodate the fashion company's continuous growth, the online shop was migrated
from SAP Hybris 5.7 to SAP Commerce – a complex version change that ensures future-proof development in e-commerce. In addition, dotSource correctly connected various tools such as a product information management (PIM) system and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to the new shop solution
Modern Content Commerce Experiences
These days, successful e-commerce in B2C always requires the interaction of product presentation and compelling web content. This means that content and commerce must go hand in hand for a modern customer experience. As part of the shop migration, the previously used content management system (CMS) Cockpit was replaced with SmartEdit and better integrated into the e-commerce tool in order to optimise product management in terms of content.

Customers were not the only ones who were thrilled by the new e-commerce solution – together with dotSource, hessnatur won the German Brand Award 2022 in the »Excellence in Brand Strategy and Creation – Brand Communication – Online Shop« category.
The jury members were just as impressed by the collaboration between the fair fashion pioneer and the digital agency as they were by the shop's significantly improved performance and usability.
