About TROX
An online shop for highly complex and configurable products? The systems behind it connected so efficiently that customers’ wishes can flow directly into production without long lead times and manual interventions?
And all of this thanks to a distributed system architecture without a monolithic construct whose continued existence depends on the expertise of a huge IT team? Our client TROX shows what successful B2B digitalisation together with dotSource can look like.
Innovative Self-Service Platform for Customer Experience and Optimised Processes
When the cooperation between dotSource and TROX started in 2017, an online shop already existed, but its range of features could not satisfactorily meet customer needs. Ordering processes were partly manual and partly digital, but all in all cumbersome and user-unfriendly.
The »stand-alone shop« was not used and did not generate any sales. Accordingly, the first step for dotSource was to replace the outdated monolithic e-commerce environment with an agile B2B platform with a microservice-based architecture to make the customer journey digital and user-friendly.
Thanks to the API-based e-commerce software commercetools, it was possible to set up a flexible online shop system for TROX. This system is based on microservices and offers typical B2B features (e.g. hierarchical shopping cart).
In addition, TROX’s various systems (including ERP, CRM, CMS and a product configurator) were connected with the help of an API layer, resulting in the standardisation of data flows.
Success & Added Value
By integrating the product configurator via a unifying API, its rules and values are no longer part of the code. As a result, changes do not entail drawn-out and time-consuming consequences, but can be deployed quickly and easily.
The entire customer journey as well as all related ordering processes are mapped completely digitally, especially since data is now transferred digitally. The collection and transfer of data also means that specific project structures can be displayed in a hierarchical shopping cart.
With the fundamental overhaul of the TROX online shop, the first important step towards digitalisation has been taken.
